
VICTORIA - Premier David Eby has issued an official message recognizing May as Polish Heritage Month and celebrating the contributions of British Columbia’s Polish community.
In his statement, Premier Eby extended warm greetings to all those marking the occasion and highlighted the importance of this national observance, now in its second year.
“This May marks the second annual Polish Heritage Month in Canada, which provides a wonderful opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of Polish people to the social, economic and cultural fabric of our country,” he said.
The Premier praised British Columbia’s vibrant multicultural landscape, noting that the province is home to over 135,000 people of Polish descent. He emphasized that occasions like Polish Heritage Month are key to fostering a more inclusive and welcoming society.
Premier Eby also offered special recognition to the Canadian Polish Congress – B.C. Branch for its efforts in advocating for the official recognition of Polish Heritage Month in the province.
“I would like to acknowledge the BC Branch of the Canadian Polish Congress for their hard work advocating for Polish Heritage Month to be recognized in our province and express my sincere gratitude to the Polish British Columbian community for its commitment to preserving and sharing their culture,” the Premier stated.
He concluded with a message of unity and celebration: “May this month be filled with joy and unity as we come together to learn, appreciate and celebrate the Polish heritage that is an integral part of our diverse and vibrant province.”
Polish Heritage Month is observed nationwide every May, offering Canadians a chance to celebrate and reflect on the enduring legacy of the Polish community.
